What is Eudaimonia?

Defined as:

A  contented state of being happy and healthy and prosperous

& by Wikipedia

Eudaimonia sometimes anglicized as eudaemonia or eudemonia, is a Greek word commonly translated as happiness or welfare; however, “human flourishing” has been proposed as a more accurate translation.

This word was a keyword in one philosophy of Aristotle.  As a happy life is the goal for most he explains we need the balance of 3 things:

  1. Virtue
  2. Honour
  3. Pleasure

Now what does this mean for us?  The end goal is happiness.  A human may not flourish until they find their ultimate truth.  Living without the final good is a dubious life.  Being conflicted with such uncertainty is the norm but it doesn’t have to be for you.  Inner peace & balance is the key to happiness my friends.  Seek eudaimonia! Namaste loves.
